Bec here, buying for dudes is never easy my hubby and I spend a lot and i mean A LOT of time together but when it comes to buying him gifts I am often absolutely dumstruck! Usually I think it is because I am not really that into his hobbies he plays paintball, loves making things and fabricating things with metal and fibreglass both materials that are super unknown to me.
So I asked him "What do you want for Xmas?" And i get the standard response you dont need to buy me anything I know you love me or, lets not do presents this year and we can go for a holiday in the new year instead. Love the second one with our crazy busy lives and 2 crazy busy children often our you and me getaways turn into red eye work trips.
So this year I have decided to dig deeper. Be more interested in what Mr Hammered is into and do a little digging. When you look with your heart i think its much easier to see the signs. Yesterday hubby was showing me some new paintball gear reviews on you tube but instead of going check this out what do you think he was like this could totally work for your buisness travelling too. This got me to thinking if he is really into what he is taking the time to show me then I need to look at it with my eyes open too. Paintball is in no way a cheap sport but he loves it like I mean travels asia several times a year loves it and because of his love I will support him infinitely in what he needs even if it means being a single mum for a week here and there while he is away. This got me to thinking.....(I know this is alot of thinking huh)
Often we push aside the big expensive things saying we can leave them for a birthday or wedding anniversary but you know what this year I think we need to find a way. A well chosen gift at any price point is one that will never collect dust because it excites it ENABLES dreams and journeys.
You remember those xmas mornings when you were a kid there was maybe 10 gifts under the Xmas tree but really there was only 1 your truely wanted with all your heart? This year look for that one don't let the noise destract you. Don't be a statisitic and buy 10 gifts for the person you love because really all they need is one, one well considered, researched and pre planned invitation to take off and follow their dreams.
So heres our top picks for following dreams.
Each kit is an invitation to learn a new skill and a super smile of satisfaction.
A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of flying up to the Courthouse Gallery in Port Hedland to be a part of their creative business workshop series. I love sharing our journey and helping others on their path to their dreams. I was lucky enough to have people do the same for me as I grew into this creative life of ours. So we say a huge thank you to FORM for having us a special mention or regional coordinator Katie Evans.
After speaking in the business Masterclass, we tucked into a papermaking workshop with Ingrid Muller. She had just returned from many years in japan teaching and learning as a "deshi" which is like an understudy in paper making. It was such a therapeutic process one that you have to let flood over you, through you and wait a long time to appreciate your work.
Here're a few snaps of the day.
Thank you for having us Port Hedland your hot balmy weather was perfect for a day of laughs, fun and learning.
